Prior to launching his own company, Ken was CEO of the Motion Picture & Television Fund Foundation, which has supported the entertainment community with health and social services for almost 100 years. During his 22-year tenure at MPTF, he worked closely with key entertainment industry leaders and executives in building a special events program that raises over $9 million annually including high profile celebrity events such as the Night Before (Oscar) event and its Emmy counterpart the Evening Before.Establishing an active annual fund in addition to these events, Scherer also designed and implemented two major gifts campaigns that collectively raised over $400 million and added two major buildings on the MPTF campus as well as fortified the endowment and growth of services.

Before joining MPTF, Ken was a Partner in Mark Frost Productions where he developed and produced the critically acclaimed TNT film Crazy Horse. Ken also served as COO and oversaw production at Lynch/Frost Productions where he worked on the groundbreaking series Twin Peaks (ABC), American Chronicles (Fox), On The Air (ABC), a feature documentary Hugh Hefner: Once Upon A Time and feature film Twin Peaks - Fire Walk With Me (New Line Cinema).
