Some of my key projects and functions are:- Serving as an internal escalation resource for other technicians on advanced networking and firewall needs, complex problem resolutions, and incident response functions- Working as an internal SE to respond to quote requests, RFPs, and other needs by designing solutions to infrastructure projects. Validate and make changes to other designs as needed, while advising others of vendor and industry trends- Taking over on a complex core switch replacement project for a 24/7 operation involving hundreds of VLANs, multiple VRFs, OSPF routing, and a 'no single point of failure' design. I mapped the current environment, built the new configurations, and successfully implemented the replacements while minimizing downtime.- Deploying, troubleshooting, and optimizing both controller-based and controllerless network solutions for high density environments. I also utilize vendor-provided tools to plan and map coverage patterns along with tracking client density and client connectivity issues.- Working extensively with Fortigate firewalls in new deployments and replacements/upgrades, utilizing UTM profiles, SSL inspection, FortiAnalyzer, and multi-VDOM deployments where needed. - Implementing Aruba ClearPass for NAC functionality, including assigning appropriate user roles and access based on defined criteria utilizing both 802.1x and MAC authentication.- Rolling out in-house certificate authorities to move to PKI authentication using YubiKey smartcards, replacing passwords with MFA login (smartcard + PIN) to meet compliance needs, including Windows and VPN authentication.- Assisting a large manufacturing customer with network scalability/growth projects, an ERP rollout, and bringing a foreign office in to their IT environment.

SECURITY – Replaced legacy AV suite with a modern EDR endpoint security solution. Refined policies using best practices, threat hunting, and threat intelligence information. Implemented a firewall monitoring and log analysis platform with alerting, indicator of compromise detection, and detailed activity tracking. Deployed Fortigate internal segmentation firewalls throughout the organization and took steps to protect against lateral infection vectors. ORGANIZATIONAL – Identified cost-saving areas including hosting contracts, telecommunications expenses, and datacenter expenses. Provided solutions to major challenges in internal projects such as a Sharepoint rollout, ETL tool migrations, and line-of-business software upgrades. Interfaced with and managed multiple technology vendors. Continued to serve as an internal subject matter expert on various technologies and software packages. Worked to develop IT strategic plans, budgets, and operational goals. Participated in audits, responding to and developing plans to remediate findings.VIRTUALIZATION – Coordinated VMWare stack upgrades and maintenance as well as migration of environment to new storage technologiesDATA PROTECTION – Responsible for administration of our Veeam environment including backups and replication to DR environment. Developed DR plans for technology and was active in testing those plans as well as remediating failures. ADMINISTRATION – Implemented secure configuration baselines based on CIS benchmarks for Windows 10 rollout program and Windows Server 2016. Responsible for patch management maintenance and software package development. Handled other day-to-day administration of technology stack including Active Directory environment, LAN/WAN/Wireless networking, and firewalls.
