I am currently an assistant manager at Fleet Feet Houston, as well as a graduate student at the University of Houston's Bauer School of Business. Working while being in school has never been easy, but it works for me. I earned my undergraduate degree in communications & new media online while I was working full time too!Initially after high school, I planned on pursuing a general business-oriented education and spent a year studying international business management in Singapore. I loved the country, but the program wasn't right for me. I ended up leaving at the end of the year and pursuing travel for a few years instead. In addition to various cities in the US, I've also been fortunate enough to visit cities in Mexico, Morocco, China, Canada, Iceland, Italy, France, Spain and Greece.Over time, travel helped me learn more about what I actually loved - communicating. I've been an avid reader since I was little, and am a strong writer and communicator. I love learning new languages - or trying to!- and hearing people's stories. I decided to pursue a Masters of Science in marketing at the University of Houston because it combined the things I loved with the practical education that would allow me to apply them to people's lives in meaningful ways. People often assume marketing is a business that lacks ethics, but I see it as a chance to connect worthy businesses with the people they want to help serve.Working various jobs to fund my travels and education has given me plenty of experience in sales and marketing from the ground up. I have a demonstrated ability to learn new skills quickly and support growth, with a history of leadership in team-based roles and some experience in marketing and PR. At Fleet Feet Houston I was one of the founding members of one of the franchise's most successful run clubs (@greenbriarrunclub on Instagram). Although my cofounder and I have since moved into different roles, I am proud to say the group's new leadership has helped it continue to flourish.When I'm not working or studying, I'm pursuing one of my greatest passions- running. I am an avid marathoner and recently achieved a long term goal of running under 3 hours, with a finishing time of 2:58! Currently, I am fortunate enough to be merging my passion for running with my social media skills as a 2024 ASICS Team Sound Mind Sound Body Ambassador (@kenaiaruns on Instagram). You can always find me seeking out a challenge to tackle or attempting to learn a new skill. I am very curious, and I love to see where curiosity takes me.
