Dr. Ken Anderson, MD, FISHRS, is the founder of Anderson Center for Hair, a state-of-the-art hair transplant center with two purpose-built facilities, one in Atlanta and the other in Alpharetta, Georgia. He is board certified by the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery, the American Board of Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, and the American Board of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. He has confined his practice exclusively to the treatment of hair loss, both surgical and non-surgical, for two decades. He began in private practice in Beverly Hills, California in 2003, until 2008 when he was recruited by EMORY Healthcare to serve as the Chief of Hair Restoration Surgery. He founded Anderson Center for Hair in 2010, and offers leading-edge surgical and non-surgical treatments from the field of regenerative medicine. He is currently an assistant clinical professor of surgery at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. Dr. Anderson is a pioneer in FUE (follicular unit excision) hair restoration surgery, and in 2004 was the surgeon on the first FUE surgery case published in the worldwide medical literature (Bernstein RM, Rassman WR, Anderson KW: FUE Megasessions – Evolution of a Technique. Hair Transplant Forum International, 14(3):116-17, 2004). In 2010 he founded the American Academy of Hair Restoration Surgery which provides on-demand didactic and practical hands-on training in all aspects of surgical hair restoration. To date he has trained over 60 physicians from around the world in the non-surgical and surgical treatment of men’s and women’s hair loss. He also treats doctors: over 5% of his patients are themselves practicing physicians and surgeons. Since 2004 he has treated patients from 48 states and 53 different countries. Anderson Center for Hair is at the forefront of leading technologies for treating hair loss, with over 80 local, national, and worldwide awards earned since its founding. With a dedicated surgical team that has over 170 years of combined experience in hair transplant surgery, Anderson Center for Hair is one of the most experienced hair transplant practices in the world. Dr. Anderson gives generously to several local charities, both with financial support, as well as personally getting involved. Founder, Director, And Chief Of SurgeryAnderson Center For Hair Feb 2005 - PresentKen Anderson, MD, FISHRS, ABHRS is the founder and chief surgeon at the Anderson Center for Hair. Dr. Anderson is the only surgeon worldwide who holds a board certificate from three different medical boards and who has practiced exclusively in the field of hair restoration surgery for over 18 years. Dr. Anderson has earned and currently holds a Board Certificate issued by the following three boards: American Board of Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery, and the American Board of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery (ENT Surgery). The Anderson Center for Hair is the first practice in the State of Georgia to offer robotic hair restoration surgical procedures using the ARTAS Robotic-assisted Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) System. Since 2016 Dr. Ken Anderson is one of just two clinical trainers for the Restoration Robotics Corporation, the company that manufacturers the ARTAS system. Physicians in the eastern half of the USA who purchase a new ARTAS system spend time with Dr. Anderson at his center learning how to correctly use the advanced surgical robot. In 2004 Dr. Anderson performed the first FUE Megasession in the world, and published the very first paper documenting this achievement in the world wide medical literature. Dr. Anderson is an established international authority on both the Follicular Unit Transplant (FUT) and the Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) techniques of hair restoration surgery, and has delivered scholarly presentations to physician audiences both nationally and internationally. Dr. Anderson's focus is on natural appearing results and outstanding patient care. He intentionally limits the volume of procedures at the Anderson Center for Hair. To Dr. Anderson, hair restoration is art. He relies on his training in both the fine arts as well as Facial Plastic Surgery to provide his patients with unparalleled service, quality, and peace-of-mind. -

Postdoctoral FellowUniversity Of Michigan Medical School Apr 1999 - Sep 2000Ann Arbor, Mi, UsNIH-supported grant to conduct tissue engineering research in the Department of Biomedical Engineering, University of Michigan. I spent 18 months of protected research time in the 4th year of my 7 years at the University of Michigan developing tissue engineered injectable cartilage implants. This was accomplished by combining biodegradable liquid polymer hydrogels with chondrocytes in animal models. Other projects included tissue engineered injectable bone implants using liquid hydrogels and osteoblasts. Obtained substantial expertise culturing cells in special media in large incubators, which has helped me to succeed in the field of hair restoration surgery, as I'm a big believer in bio-enhanced hair restoration surgery as a result of these research experiences.Research efforts resulted in several publications in high-impact journals, including the world's most prestigious peer-reviewed science publication: Nature.Publications from this research fellowship:Lee KY, Peters MC, Anderson KW, Mooney DJ: Controlled Growth Factor Release fromSynthetic Extracellular Matrices. Research ScientistNational Science Foundation Mar 1990 - Sep 1990Alexandria, Va, UsEarly in the days of supercomputers, I used machines from Sun Microsystems® to engage in a series of experiments in theoretical chemistry, under the direction of Dr. Ken Merz in the Chemistry Department at Penn State University. This was a National Science Foundation funded research experience, and resulted in a publication in a peer-reviewed journal. I studied the mechanism of action of the enzyme carbonic anhydrase in a computational, theoretical manner, measuring force fields between atoms at the active site of the enzyme. Specifically we studied the role of zinc in the mechanism of action of the enzyme.Hoops SC, Anderson KW, Merz KM: Force field design for metalloproteins. Chief inspector and repairman for movie seats in a 12 theater complex using a flashlight, a screwdriver, and common sense. -
Architect, Engineer, And Head Foreman Of Construction TeamMichael Anderson Construction Industries May 1989 - Aug 1989Commissioned by my father to design and construct an elevated backyard deck measuring 70 feet by 40 feet, about 4 feet off the ground. Plans included a built-in Jacuzzi hot tub flush with the surface of the deck, 3 sets of stairs, a wooden fence and benches all around, a lighted dining area, and lattice work all around to hide the underneath areas. I led a team consisting of my younger brother and a semi-willing neighbor to build this gorgeous monstrosity over the course of the entire summer. I relied only on common sense and uneducated assumptions to complete the project. All cement used was mixed by hand using shovels in wheelbarrows. All 16,000 nails were driven by hand using hammers. Each of the dozens of post holes were created by hand with a post-hole digger. Michael Anderson Construction Industries was determined to keep the costs to a minimum, so the only power tool that was used was a table saw. This deck is still standing, and can be seen from space by astronauts on the International Space Station.
