An environment for lab work presents some unique challenges. Because testing and R&D can demand specific hardware or bare-metal, standard VM-only CMPs are insufficient. A lab design enables self-service reservation of complex mobile, desktop, and distributed computing environments, load, network, and failure simulation, repeatable testing, and consistent reporting.
