I was gifted with the book What I Know For Sure by Oprah Winfrey, in a time when I wasn't sure. The cloth-bound book holds a collection of Winfrey’s inspirational life lessons. The quote embossed on the back sparked my self-discovery and ambition.“I know for sure: Your journey begins with a choice to get up, step out, and live fully.”I’m a first-year law student at the University of Miami School of Law and graduate of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a B.A. in Journalism and minors in Entrepreneurship and Social & Economic Justice. I've not always known where my journey was taking me, but stayed driven my passions. Throughout college, I got involved and work with sports media, varsity cheerleading, and our Office for Diversity and Inclusion. Now, as a law student I have become involved with the Black Law Students Association and Entertainment & Sports Law Society.What I know for sure now, is that I am an ambitious, hardworking, and driven young adult that enjoys finding ways to build a more inclusive and equitable society. My career aspirations are to work in the sports and entertainment law realm focusing on diversifying the fields and bridging the gender equity gap.
