Axis Site Automation And Control Systems Engineer

Newport Beach, California, Us

Primary responsibility to support site DCS, PLC, and associated control hardware and software systems. Main process control systems are Honeywell Experion with C200 and HPM controllers, and Allen-Bradley ControlLogix and Modicon 985 PLC’s (each serial linked to DCS). Other systems include Interroll conveyor with A-B GuardLogix PLC and PanelView HMI, and a bagging machine with A-B ControlLogix PLC. Modified Experion function block logic and HPM CL Code for second run of new product including re-creating GUS graphics as HTML, added additional indicators to give technicians better view of how process was running. Developed strategy to eliminate manual changes to function block logic when making product run transitions, will automate the logic changes for about 20 tags. The box conveyor line underwent layout change requiring updates to the Interroll Conveyor configuration, the A-B ladder logic, and the HMI displays.Update/create automation documentation for information sharing and knowledge transfer. Add DCS displays to show interlock status via pop-ups, logic blocks overview, product mode changes, and a reference display for engineering tasks. Extensive use of Honeywell HPM tools such as Find Names, DocTool for queries, and Experion tools like Configuration Studio with Control Builder, NTools, and System Management Display. Use HMIWeb display builder with Honeywell standard objects and how to create scripts and set colors and visibility based on an object status's. Created new HTML displays for those GUS displays that did not updated versions. Now working to encourage technicians use the new displays and eventually eliminate all GUS versions as part of the prep work to move all HPMs to C300 controllers. And have the opportunities to learn how to do non-control tasks on the Windows side of the computers such as achieving cybersecurity requirements through lockdown of USB ports using regedit and/or gpuser.msc.
