I am a Board-Certified Interventional Cardiologist with added skills in Peripheral Intervention, pacemaker implantation, ICD implantation, and CRT-D implantation. I am a distinguished Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, a Fellow of the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Intervention, and a Fellow of the American College of Physicians. In 1994, while still an intern, I lost a sister to heart disease - she was only 45 years old. I was still in my residency at the time, and I still recall that helpless feeling. I determined that I did not want my family, or any family for that matter, to experience the type of loss we felt. After completing my Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology Fellowship training, I relocated back to the Virgin Islands, where I spearheaded the establishment of an Interventional Cardiology Program. Subsequently, I became the Chief Medical Officer of the Governor Juan F. Luis Hospital & Medical Center (JFL). After that, I assisted in establishing the Virgin Island Cardiac Center (VICC) and subsequently became its Executive Director. After that tenure, I became the Chief Executive Officer of JFL and started my Cardiovascular Associates of the Virgin Islands – my private practice.I relocated to Statesboro and became the founder and owner of 'My Heart Doctor,' a practice dedicated to healing and recovery. Remember the determination I mentioned? Well, that led to our motto of "Trusted Care from Our Hearts to Yours." Every patient receives the quality of care that I wanted for my sister at the time. The ultimate goal of My Heart Doctor is to bring trusted cardiovascular care to every small town in America.I have enjoyed many firsts in my career, and I am proud of my achievements as they have provided valuable life lessons and allowed me to hone my skills to help save my patients' lives. I continue to do so in my current roles:•Effingham Health Systems - Implanted the first pacemaker and ICD and performed the first TEE/cardioversion. As Chief of Cardiology at Effingham, I serve as the lead physician in collaboration with strong nursing and administrative leadership team to obtain level 3 ECCC.•East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro - Served as the lead cardiologist in our successful endeavor to obtain and maintain Chest Pain Accreditation.
