At Fairfax I supported the advertising department for the Waikato branch of Fairfax Media. In my role I looked after dozens of clients and their ad needs for the suite of Fairfax publications, including the Waikato Times, the Dominion Post, Stuff and Neighbourly. I helped plan what ad material they would like to run, organise the sizing and placement of ads, and assisted with the design, images and content of the ads to ensure they were consistent with the company's key messages, intent and brand.

My role at Farmax was quite varied, but it largely centred around managing the company's marketing and communications with shareholders, the agricultural industry and customers. A major highlight was helping plan and design our first newspaper marketing campaign - 'Let's FARMAX that' in the NZ Farmers Weekly. Other roles included writing and designing the quarterly newsletter, brochures, case studies and press releases, as well as revamping the website, updating its design, structure and content. Social media was another aspect I looked after, engaging with partners, customers and prospective clients via Facebook and Twitter. Additionally, I managed Farmax events, including the awards nights for the Farmax Consultant of the Year Awards, and our national conference, based in Wellington.

Tutored management students at the University of Waikato, assisting them with learning in the areas of research, analysis and communication in a variety of forms including writing, numeracy, digital literacy, descriptive statistics, collaborative work and research. I held weekly tutorials, special help classes, supervised exams and graded assignments.

I assisted a senior lecturer in the Management Communication department with an international project on specific food and drinks which overlapped the boundary between pharmaceuticals and food. For the duration of the project I explored government, organisational and legislative websites and documents, gathering relevant information and tabulating it for future use. This role provided me with valuable experience in research and analysis, and motivated me to complete my own research in the form of a Master's.
