Surveyed species of interest within the Unita-Wasatch-Cache National Forest through the use of point-call surveys, transect surveys, electrofishing, e-DNA sampling, mist nets, and Sherman traps. Handled songbirds, fish, small mammals and toad species in a safe and professional manner to conduct authorized research. Deployed acoustic monitors for detecting species of interest (bat and pinon jay populations). Coordinated with volunteer teams for large, multi-day sampling efforts.

Evaluated and prevented damage to crops and livestock by wildlife species.Improved ease of access to Walk-In and Hunter Management Areas for hunters and anglers.Collected biological samples for CWD and Brucellosis surveillance initiatives, recorded wildlife information from hunter harvests, conduct field autopsies, assist in fisheries population estimates and beaver trapping and transplanting efforts.

Performed patient assessments in the pre-hospital setting in the emergency setting. Made decisions regarding patenting acuity, transport priority and administration of appropriate treatment courses such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation, airway management, trauma system injury stabilization and medication.

The Coast-Cow-Consumer project investigates the potential of native Gulf of Maine algae species as a feed additive for dairy cattle to mitigate enteric methane emissions.

As a teaching assistant for an undergraduate ecology lab, I facilitated students’ mastery of skills including surveying techniques, comprehension and writing of scientific papers and statistical analysis of population studies through hands-on group experiments and use of virtual simulations. I maintained proper biosafety standards such as practicing safe sharps disposal, proper use of PPE, hazardous materials disposal and use of chemical fume hoods and biosafety cabinets while supervising 19 undergraduate students. I also worked to build meaningful instructor-student connections through individual tutoring and tailored feedback on assignments.

As an interpretive ranger intern I educated up to 10,000 visitors on the historical, cultural and ecological significance of the National Historic Landmark through interpretive presentations given during the 3 mile hike to and from the site and at visitor request. Independently and in collaboration with co workers I researched and developed interpretive programs on native bats and cave decontamination, geology, animal identification and sustainable fishing through investigations into scientific literature and conducting expert interviews. Utilizing my own photography, I produced social media content for Bighorn National Forest accounts which received over 260 positive interactions. I received training from the wildlife biology team in line transect and photo transect sampling, orienteering by GPS coordinates and plant identification to conduct habitat surveys for monitoring aspen and willow growth and effects of grazing in 5 sites containing fragile riparian areas, the data from which informs future prescribed burns, hunting regulations and designation of protected areas.
