Kendi Muthomi Msc Email and Phone Number
I am an experienced leader, mentor, and researcher with extensive international experience (i.e. Central America, North America, and Africa) in crop protection across diverse agricultural systems. Currently, I am pursuing a Ph.D. in Entomology at the University of Florida, focusing on the sustainable management of pests in small fruits and vegetables through integrated pest management (IPM) practices. My research is centered on managing major pest complexes, including invasive pests such as thrips, whiteflies, fruit flies, and mites across the U.S. I lead collaborative projects that develop innovative IPM strategies to reduce pesticide reliance, improve crop health, and increase productivity. My extension work bridges the gap between research and practice by translating complex scientific findings into practical applications, providing growers and extension agents with actionable insights to address pest challenges while promoting environmentally sound agricultural practices.I have successfully partnered with non-profit organizations (MasterCard Foundation, WEGE Foundation, Changes for Humanity), corporations (Corteva, Vestaron), and government agencies (USDA IR-4 project, FDACS, SARE) to conduct scientific research, advocate for climate action, promote food security, and work towards socio-economic empowerment. My work aligns with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), advancing sustainability in agriculture and beyond.I am a respectful, kind, and dedicated professional with a strong work ethic, committed to making a positive impact in the world.
