Conducted assessments at adult foster care homes and other locations to create behavior plans to enhance the lives of residents and to make safer environments for staff. Traveled to other facilities for supporting clients with mental and developmental differences and conducted assessments with clients and support staff or family. These assessments were then used to create support plans to create safer and more enjoyable environments for the clients and staff. The ultimate goal is to reduce any restrictions or move the client to a place of greater personal freedom.

My role as a clinician at this facility entailed assessing and creating highly detailed support plans for children who, due to the severity of their needs, had to be housed in a residential setting with 24 hour staffing. As a clinician, we also worked on the floor with the children and staff. This was a hands-on model of treatment and we got right in there with the staff and the kids to really get to know them and understand their needs. I ultimately needed to leave this position due to getting pregnant with my second child as the job is too dangerous to do when pregnant due to the risk of physical aggression that clients did pose.Managed the residential stay of youths with autism and other serious developmental delays Analyzed behavior data of clients and staff to create safe, effective, useful interventions to aid in the progress of the clients to be safer and move to less restrictive housing. Trained staff extensively on behavior plans, data collection, safety protocols. Created physical devices to be used to enhance the experience of clients and staff as well as create safer environments for clients and staff. Used organizational and personnel management strategies to create a healthy and competent workforce in addition to analyzing data to ensure areas of growth are explored.

This role was a more traditional, in-home early intervention autism support clinician. I supervised direct care technicians as well as worked directly with the children and parents. I lived in a part of Maryland that had a wide variety of cultural and religious backgrounds. I was able to use my religious education and skills learned from traveling to other places to better connect with a wider range of clients and their families. I feel like my training and education allowed me to respect their practices while still providing the best applied behavior analytic support that was feasible in that home. I ultimately left this role to have my first child and move back to Michigan. Evaluated and completed behavioral assessments with clients ages 2 to 14.Completed treatment plans and behavioral interventions based on applied behavior analysis.Implemented treatment plans and procedures one-on-one with clients in-home. Service was provided to a wide array of cultural backgrounds and cultural sensitivity training was integral to ensuring compassionate care was delivered in the most culturally sensitive way.
