I developed Health Level 7 (HL7) interfaces for the Department of Health to report communicable diseases across all 50 states and U.S. territories. This software is built using R or Python and integrates with SQL databases, incorporating medical terminologies like LOINC and SNOMED codes.Additionally, I create, implement, and debug internal software to optimize department operations. This software has significantly improved the accuracy and turnaround time for over 20,000 communicable disease reports and has been instrumental in demonstrating our reporting proficiency during audits.I also performed data analytics for the company and external clients, utilizing data mining, statistical analysis, and data wrangling to produce automated daily, weekly, and monthly reports using batch files and task scheduler.

Providing educational assistance to students on an Individualized Education Program (IEP). An IEP is a customized educational plan designed to meet the unique needs of students with disabilities, ensuring they receive tailored support and resources to succeed academically. My role involves collaborating with educators to implement and monitor these plans, adapting teaching methods and materials to meet each student’s specific learning goals.

The mission of Denver Math Fellows is to, "Close the opportunity gap by providing small group math and literacy instruction for our highest need students in order to accelerate their academic growth in preparation for college and career." As a Denver Math Fellow, I taught 7th-grade mathematics, providing small group instruction across five periods each day. Recognizing that each group of students learned differently, I designed engaging lessons tailored to their unique needs, motivating them to succeed. I also collaborated with peers and parents to identify and close learning gaps, ensuring that students had the tools needed to achieve proficiency in grade-level mathematics.

As a Research Assistant, I utilized R-Studio to run an Expectation Maximization Algorithm aimed at identifying hidden ancestries within a genetic database. The database that I worked with was the Exome Aggregation Consortium (ExAC) database. This database can sometimes lead to misidentifying causal genetic variants in rare diseases. The goal of my work was to prove that the Expectation Maximation Algorithm is capable of detecting fine-scale ancestry, thereby improving the accuracy of identifying genetic variants associated with rare diseases.At the end of the research project, I then presented the findings at the Mathematics Association of America conference.
