I am a collaborative, dedicated environmental health leader focused on evidence-based, community-engaged public health best practices, as well as a Registered California Environmental Health Specialist. I formerly supervised local regulatory activities for retail food, recreational health, body art, substandard housing complaints and environmental health-specific emergency response (with experience in wildfire, debris flow, and pandemic emergency response) for the Environmental Health Services division of the Santa Barbara County Public Health Department. My professional interests include creative regulatory approaches for emerging community needs, relationship-based and cooperative models for achieving regulatory compliance, environmental health emergency response, and effective communication practices. I currently provide practice-oriented and experience-informed education to students in the Culinary Arts program at Santa Barbara City College, teaching courses on foodservice sanitation. I deeply enjoy teaching adult learners and have a special appreciation for their unique needs and challenges. As a consultant, I bring an informed, experienced, collaborative approach to regulatory compliance and community relationship building for my clients. I am interested in identifying and supporting creative regulatory solutions to emerging community and business needs, focusing on ensuring public health while helping nonprofit and commercial organizations fulfill their goals. My experience and relationships at the local and state levels as well as my long-term engagement in the community in a variety of roles helps me identify resources and opportunities that support project teams to successful outcomes.
