Teaching the course "Well-Being and Professional Formation," a course designed to deepen law students’ understanding of well-being and professional identity formation through a combination of readings, videos, exercises, and in-depth classroom discussions on various well-being topics that influence and impact the life and well-being of law students and members of the legal profession.Specifically, through this course, students will gain a thorough understanding of the six dimensions of well-being (emotional, occupational, social, intellectual, physical, and spiritual) and the impacts of well-being on not only individual student professional formation and quality of life, but also systemic issues in the legal profession related to the well-being, or lack thereof, in the profession today.

As Director of Lawyer Talent, I managed lawyer recruiting at all levels, associate training and development, associate evaluation and feedback, attorney professional development, and firm diversity and inclusion.• Recruiting: From contract attorneys to lateral shareholders, I supported the firm’s priority to identify and hire top legal talent. I managed our on-campus interview process, as well as the law school diversity program hiring that we did each year. As needs arose in each of our practice groups, I worked with firm leaders to attract high-caliber lateral attorneys to our firm.• Professional development: As a believer in continuous professional growth and development, I brought my experience as a coach, trainer, and presenter to the firm in order to build learning paths, provide assessments and internal coaching support, present learning opportunities, and help attorneys identify growth areas and resources to assist them in gaining new skills and expertise. • Diversity and Inclusion: In support of this firm-wide strategic priority, I not only worked to help attract, retain, and advance diverse attorneys within the firm, but I also worked with others in the firm to present learning and social opportunities within the firm to deepen the cultural competencies and build a culture of respect for everyone on our Briggs team.

As Client Development Manager, I developed and managed business and client development strategies at Merchant & Gould, P.C., a national intellectual property firm with over a century of providing clients with valuable, highly effective and cost-efficient representation. In my role, I had the opportunity to:• Initiate, develop, and manage business development strategies for intellectual property attorneys.• Work closely with partners and associates on individual business development plans, including identifying and responding to business opportunities, refining value propositions, establishing relationship development paths, and helping prepare customized presentations.• Prepare and provide strategic guidance on responses to requests for proposal.• Partner with firm attorneys and the Manager of Marketing to develop an event strategy that targets clients and prospective clients in order to bring additional value to current clients, attract new clients, and illustrate the expertise and knowledge that the attorneys bring.

As Executive Director of the Minneapolis, MN branch of Special Counsel, I was responsible for all branch administration, including team productivity, profitability, financials and sales. I had the opportunity to hire, train and manage branch recruiting, sales, and administrative staff. As Executive Director, I negotiated, maintained, and managed all contracts with clients and vendors. I had the pleasure of working closely with our existing clients and deepening those relationships, and I also enjoyed developing new relationships with law firms and corporate hiring departments.

• Provided career and professional development coaching for students, helping them determine their career path and achieve success in a competitive job market.• Supported and directed a team of career counselors and administrative staff members to serve the needs of the students and communities.• Connected with and built relationships with UST alumni to support our graduates in their legal careers.• Planned and hosted career and professional development and other programs for our students and alumni.• Presented workshops and trainings on career and professional development topics to a broad spectrum of audiences.• Met with law firms and corporate hiring leaders locally, regionally, and nationally to share why UST graduates made outstanding hires.
