I created Ars Technica in 1998 as a sole proprietorship. After amazing early success, I changed the company to an LLC with other contributing members in 2000. Ars was acquired by Conde Nast in 2008. I have served as its Director & Editor in Chief since its founding.Previously, I honed my technical chops working in IT for 12 years primarily in academic environments at Indiana University and Harvard (systems administration and architecture).
