I am excited to be making a career change and following a career path that I find interesting and engaging. I am an avid gamer and enjoy games from all genres, and I am extremely passionate about games, game design, and game development. I have been programming for over two decades and it is time for me to put these passions together and move forward into the next chapter of my career. To accomplish this goal, I went back to school and I pursued a B.S. in Simulation and Digital Entertainment from the University of Baltimore. I graduated Cum Laude in the spring of 2018.My recent work has been done in Unity3d using C#. On my projects, my primary function is the team programmer while also contributing to the design discussion. As the programmer, I take on the responsibility of prototyping, testing, and iterating on gameplay mechanics. I take a holistic approach to game design, both when designing features and mechanics, as well as implementation. To this end I am able to provide support in other disciplines such as level design, 3d modeling, and texturing, allowing me to teammates in their roles. It is important to take a multidisciplinary approach, toward game design and development, to be better able to support fellow team members. By having familiarity with all aspects of the design and development process, I am able to make better decisions regarding design, implementation, and inclusion within the project. My future goals include, developing and expanding upon my knowledge in procedural generation, and further feeding my deep interest in Artificial Intelligence. I have used discrete state machines to govern and control enemy agents, but I believe the future of game A.I. will be in using computer learning techniques, such as neural networks, and genetic algorithms. These techniques will be applied to provide higher quality A.I. agents for our players encounter.
