My greatest strength is my ability to evaluate customer paint points and opportunities, formulate these into a Vision, build out a roadmap to define the path forward to implement that vision and help the team define how to reach the goal. All of this in a way that is minimal in the “overhead and oversight” aspects that typically go along with software development and reduce the team’s creativity.Here is how that typically looks. Usually, it starts by asking two questions. First what are the greatest pain points our customers (or potential customers) are experiencing. Second is what is the biggest market threat we are facing. From here the discussion moves on to brainstorming how to address the pain points or market threat and defining short (one month) and long-term roadmaps (3+ months) to give us a plan to move forward. This roadmap focuses on value being delivered.Next up the team gets to work. No mind-numbing debates over where something is a 3 or a 5 or worrying about what can fit into a two-week timebox. The team is given the freedom to focus on completing the work.One of my passions is working to help solve the problem of lack of technical resources in Indiana. Currently I do this by exposing Elementary, Middle and High School students to VEX Robotics.
