I believe that a Plant can be productive and safe at the same time. This belief is rooted in my education in Occupational Health and Safety, my expertise in behavior based safety and 20 years of experience in plant management, maintenance supervision and health & safety.Early in my career, I worked as a corporate EHS Auditor; helping to identify deficiencies in multiple locations and providing plans on how to improve. This provided a deep knowledge and experience base for how plants and people should be managed in a well run organization.As the Plant Manager for Cargill, I have managed a staff of over 30 employees, in a facility that processes and ships over 213,000 tons of salt per year, with sales in excess of $27MM. I have created and managed an annual plant budget of over $10MM and been responsible for developing a 3-year capital plan for our facility. I have extensive leadership experience in lean manufacturing, process improvement, packaging, project engineering, customer service, budgeting, and project management. I also offer a strong focus on team building, mentorship and developing individuals so that they can be successful in their roles.Relating to my professional philosophy, I believe that it’s important for corporations to give back to the communities in which they have a presence. I have been a part of several community-based projects that have contributed to the overall health of the community and helped to boost relations between the organization and locals. One example is the “B-more Giving Garden,” which I started in order to grow food for the local food bank. You can read more about this important project in the Projects section of my profile. I am currently the Solar and Packaging Operations Leader for Morton Salt. In this role I’m am responsible for the overall financial, production and safety results for 11 locations in three different countries.
