I was born to lead.Growing up, I thought I would be a teacher. I excelled at math, was interested in science, loved reading, and memorized the order of the Presidents of the United States (it seemed like the perfect mindset for an elementary school teacher). After participating in my middle school's robotics club, and struggling to design a truly superior design compared to competitors, I realized that my true passion was in problem-solving. Deep diving issues and finding the best solution was a fun way to keep the brain gears turning. I enrolled in my high school's engineering academy as a way to fill my time, and my new dream was solidified. I loved working with actuators, 3D designing, pairing up on projects, etc. It was something new everyday. It seemed natural to major in Mechanical Engineering in college.In order to pay for college, I chose to work 40 hours a week at Amazon to limit student loans, and I quickly promoted to a Process Assistant role. There, I learned that problem-solving and data analysis - the things I loved in middle school - pop up everywhere. I loved managing associates and trouble-shooting various issues. I helped my building move up to Gold Status, an incredibly rare rating for AR Sortables to achieve, by helping develop new standards in a way that was easy for associates to understand, and thinking outside the box when process was interrupted by external issues. Developing new changes to the way the floor was run and clearly communicating expectations resulted in many differences across the board. BPS improved drastically with new processes, and errors drastically decreased across the warehouse, and it felt like competition with myself to do better than I had the previous shift. I loved going to work more than I ever thought I would, and it made the lack of sleep worthwhile.A management role also taught me that compassion and staying true to your word will help create a healthy work environment. Associates appreciated being acknowledged for working hard, and continued working hard as a result. With graduation came time to pursue a career. I became a Technical Solutions Engineer for the Epic family, where I work with hospital analysts to improve their experience with the company's software, and continue to improve Epic's overall EHR. Data and software analysis is greatly used to assist in this role, and it makes it a fun role to have. However, my true desire is to work in leadership again; having a team of associates I can develop to create a tight-knit community that focuses on improvements everyday.
