I provide constructive, compassionate, and detailed feedback to staff editors. I do so while maintaining thorough communication with our Editor-in-Chief, facilitating effective communication between editors and staff writers, and upholding previously agreed upon deadlines.

Interning for Maguire Law Associates, I review and familiarize myself with my associates’ caseloads, meet directly with clients to address their concerns, and help to facilitate effective and intentional communication between clients and their legal representation. My role allows me to work directly with private investigators, deputy state’s attorneys, and co-counselors to advocate for the rights of my office’s clients.

During my time working under Sarah George I observed court proceedings, depositions, and other testimonies in a compassionate, engaged, and respectful manner. I did so while practicing confidentiality and respect for those involved in criminal proceedings. I spoke, theorized, and strategized about cases with my colleagues while maintaining separation between my professional and personal life. I completed a variety of administrative tasks, filing documents, entering data, and responding to communications with the office. I was responsible for tailoring and guiding my internship experience to fit my needs, communicating my interests with my colleagues and internship coordinators.

During my time in this role I represented my community through my local community justice center, sitting on a board of community members who work to find restorative and inclusive responses to local infractions. I consistently participated in trainings and learning opportunities to expand my knowledge of restorative justice and its importance. Further, I attended executive board meetings to represent student and youth voice and voice ideas for the consideration of executive members.

I ran group activities and games for small groups of kids ages 7-10. During this time I talked through and problem solve issues and conflicts in group or individual activities. I also connected with parents and guardians to address disruptions or to praise outstanding behavior.
