The Coordinator, College and Career is responsible for ensuring that every high school student and their family receives proactive and effective support to successfully transition the student to college and career. The Coordinator will maintain a high-quality College & Career Advising Team, comprised of existing school staff and community organizations. • With school leadership, creates a College & Career Advising Team, including staff teachers, and support organizations, to identify the services and support currently being provided; and develops a strategic plan for the College & Career approach for the high school. • Leverages existing resources to ensure that all students and families receive high quality college and career counseling to develop a smart college list, submit applications in a timely manner, and complete all financial aid paperwork. • Coordinates college tours and career exposure opportunities. Markets and support students in dual credit enrollment • Regularly utilizes postsecondary and career data to create goals and drive student programming. • Provides resources and support to ensure that ALL DCPS students have post-secondary plans, including job placement and employment support. • Ensures effective implementation of college and career tools and programming (e.g., SAT Test Prep, Naviance) to support college and career exploration, preparation, and planning.

• Provided career management services to a diverse population at a branch campus of about 7,000 students and 56,000 students university-wide with a focus on helping them and alumni obtain employment• Trained and supervised Peer Career Coaches with resume writing and cover letter techniques• Managed the walk-in program responsible for critiquing student and alumni resumes and cover letters on a one-on-one basis• Advised students and alumni, while leading presentations for First Year Experience (FYE) courses regarding career developmental skills such as job/internship searching, resume writing, interviewing, and negotiating salaries• Supported department in signature events such as Career Fair, Internship Fair, Career Expo, and Career Bash• Promoted office-wide resources and services by tabling at programming events such as Week of Welcome, Homecoming, and Orientation for first-year and transfer students
