My name is Kenneth and I work as a coding engineer at Combell, Belgium’s biggest independent hosting company. At Combell I tend to coding issues, such as problems related to PHP, MySQL, Linux and CMS websites in general.My function as a coding engineer is situated between the customer service desk (which consists of several highly specialized technical profiles and is by no means a regular first or second line support desk) and the system administration team, so I actively cooperate with both teams. I’m also charged with coordinating migrations of websites or even entire servers. One of my bigger achievements was the preparation and coordination of the migration of an entire Linux hosting cluster, consisting of over 30 servers. During this specific migration I had to resolve many issues caused by legacy code.I’m thoroughly experienced in Linux: I really enjoy server configuration but also operational tasks such as scheduling cron-jobs, troubleshooting issues (mail, web, database, …) and other issues related to the server or installed applications.My favorite content management system is Drupal, though my knowledge of content management systems isn’t limited to it. I’m also quite the expert on optimizing the performance of Drupal (and other content management systems). As I’m truly intrigued with DevOps and hope, you won’t be hard pressed to find that I love working with the latest technologies, such as Varnish, Redis, Nginx among others, setting up testcases and implementing new techniques in my daily workflow.
