Ken Hickman serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Highlands Residential Mortgage, LTD. Mr. Hickman identified and negotiated the purchase of Mortex Lending, LTD., a privately owned mortgage finance company, in March 2010. Mortex Lending, LTD was renamed Highlands Residential Mortgage, LTD during September 2010. Under Mr. Hickman’s leadership, the company has grown from a small brokerage operation to a full service mortgage banker with 12 production offices and over 180 employees (in six months). Prior to serving as the Company's Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Hickman’s career included CFO of AccuBanc Mortgage Corporation from 1983 until it was sold in early 2000, CFO of AmPro Mortgage Corporation from 2002 until it was sold in 2006 and he managed a mortgage banking consulting firm Mortgage Support Group from 2006 until 2009. Mr. Hickman earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from Stephen F. Austin in 1979 and is a Certified Public Accountant.Mr. Hickman serves as the Chairman of the THEMBA Foundation, a foundation he established after traveling to South Africa in 2006 and witnessing first hand the HIV/AIDS crisis in Sub-Saharan Africa. The foundation has already provided over $250,000.00 in financial assistance to those impacted by HIV/AIDS.
