As the Director of Geospatial Services at Planetary Limited, I provide leadership in shaping the strategic direction and driving the growth of our geospatial solutions. In this role, I am responsible for developing and executing the company's geospatial business strategy, overseeing project implementations, nurturing client relationships, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality geospatial services.

In this role, I provided technical expertise and leadership in scoping, designing, and implementing Geospatial data and technology to develop innovative technological solutions for various business domains.I have significantly contributed to the development and deployment of the Integrated Location Intelligence Solution (ILIS), a centralized, web-enabled, enterprise-ready Geospatial System for Way-leave Management and Engineering Construction in use at The Kenya Electricity Transmission Company (KETRACO), and the development of a Digital Trunked Radio Network Framework for Communications Authority of Kenya (CAK).

As a GIS specialist, I worked with an interdisciplinary team of aquaculture, marine science, socioeconomic specialists, aquaculture farmers, and regulators to undertake spatial zoning of Lake Victoria for aquaculture. The spatial zoning of Lake Victoria aims to sustainably and responsibly identify and allocate areas that are biophysically and socio-economically suitable for aquaculture, thereby eradicating the risk of uncontrolled spatial distribution of fish farms and the unsustainable use of natural resources through zoning and the Ecosystem Approach to Aquaculture (EAA).This spatial zoning is part of the “EU-EAC True Fish Farming Story in Lake Victoria Basin” project, whose overall objective is to contribute to developing competitive, gender-equitable, and sustainable commercial aquaculture in the Lake Victoria basin.

In this role, I provided technical expertise and leadership in Geospatial Information and technology for various projects. I was responsible for delivering geospatial products and services, including managing all project data, information systems, and technological tools. I also supervised project teams in geospatial data collection, processing, and analysis and coordinated with other interdisciplinary teams.I significantly contributed to two impactful projects. Firstly, I spearheaded the GIS team and managed all project data in the preparation of Local Physical Development Plans (LPDPs) for Kisumu City. The LPDPs are statutory instruments guiding sustainable urban development in the City until 2030, implementing the City's Integrated Strategic Urban Development Plan (ISUD) to realize the designation of Kisumu City in Kenya's Vision 2030 as one of the flagship cities. Secondly, I was instrumental in the development of a modern Physical Addressing System for Kiambu, Thika, and Machakos towns, utilizing digital geospatial data and signage to enhance property identification and location.

This role entailed developing and implementing technical competency assessment tools to evaluate the knowledge, skills and attitude of staff in the Land administration and management sector to recommend further training or certification in accordance with the Ethiopian TVET Qualifications Framework.
