Certified Grounds Manager, Professional Grounds Management Society, achieved in 2001Dubbed the "University in the Forest" I was responsible for managing a crew of 12 grounds keepers tasked with maintaining the grounds of the 186 acre campus utilizing an Ecological and environmentally friendly approach.Noteworthy projects:- Project manager for baseball dugouts- Developed a plan to help preserve 3 - 100 yr old Beach trees during the construction of the new Arts center building at the entrance to the university.- Assisted with commencement preparation and setup- Project manager for the reforestation & undergrowth planting during the first annual "Fern Fest" in 1999. - Served as liaison to the Office of Student Activities to assist with the campus reforestation project during family weekend October 2000. - Assisted the Biology Dept. with evasive plant removal within the forest.- Coordinated a shared agreement with a local grower to provide the campus with free landscape plants in exchange for clippings of established ground covers which are used to grow more plants. This agreement enabled the continued beautification of the grounds while saving money. - Coordinated a shared agreement with a local top soil company to enable the campus to purchase soil at a discounted price in exchange for the piles of leaves that when decomposed, are used to produce more topsoil.

I was responsible for leading a team of greens keepers in various construction and maintenance projects while maintaining the course in an aesthetically pleasing and tournament ready condition. Notable Projects:- Served as project manager for preserving and maintaining naturalized areas throughout the golf course through the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program for Golf - "an award winning education and certification program that helps golf courses protect our environment and preserve the natural heritage of the game of golf. By helping people enhance the valuable natural areas and wildlife habitats that golf courses provide, improve efficiency, and minimize potentially harmful impacts of golf course operations, the program serves as vital resource for golf courses." - Project Manager for the construction and design of the natural rock wall in front of the 15th green.- Project manager for the reconstruction and drainage improvements of numerous sand hazards & green surrounds.- Utilized Integrated Pest Management (IPM) best practices techniques.- Assisted the Golf Course Superintendent by providing monthly progress reports to the greens committee.

My responsibilities included supervising and coordinating the daily tasks and training of 30 greens keepers at the 36 hole golf course. Gained valuable experience while working together as a team member and project manager during a multi-million dollar renovation of both golf courses in 1994.
