I concentrate my practice on international tax issues of US and nonUS based multinational companies. My tax practice experience has included planning, structuring/restructuring, transfer pricing, mergers and acquisitions, financings, other transactions, regulations, legislation, private letter rulings, IRS examinations, IRS Appeals, and amicus briefs. I have represented clients in numerous industries, including manufacturing, financial institutions, software, transportation (especially shipping), pharmaceuticals, services, real estate, agricultural, stock, security, and commodity trading, distribution, and entertainment, among others. Structurings and restructurings often involve income amalgamation or bifurcation. I was Practice Leader of the Mayer Brown worldwide Tax Transactions & Consulting Practice Group, 2006-2012.

I was responsible for all U.S. Internal Revenue Code domestic tax regulations, domestic published and private rulings, and domestic technical advice to the IRS field. Over 400 tax lawyers and accountants and engineers reported to me in the Corporate, Employee Benefits & Exempt Organizations, Financial Institutions & Products, Income Tax & Accounting, and Partnership & Special Industries divisions. I received the Chief Counsel's and the Commissioner's Awards in November 1990.
