About Kenneth Knox

I am a Civil Engineer in Geoman, a growing, fast-paced Geotechnical Consultancy, where I draft construction drawings and write Geotechnical Design Reports for retaining structures, pavements and engineered slopes. I also regularly produce temporary works and slope stability reports, speak to clients and produce promotional content. The work has been varied and challenging; covering an array of products and systems, soil and groundwater conditions, design standards and analysis methods.My knack for learning scripting languages has let me automate many error prone, repetative or routine tasks in the design workflow, and accomplish things that would be either impossible or infeasible in the available software. While in most cases this has been for internal use, my paving design tool is available at www.geoman.co.uk/services/online-services/paving-designer/. This online application produces useful preliminary sections based on just two basic design parameters, and doesn't require a Civil Engineering degree to use!When not in work I'm usually playing guitar, getting sucked into a good computer game or kicking back with a beer and a few friends.
