Kenneth L. Gartner is a commercial and appellate litigator with the law firm of Lynn Gartner Dunne, LLP. His practice also includes representing judges, lawyers and law firms in criminal, civil and disciplinary matters. For seven years, he was a civil and criminal trial judge in Nassau County District Court. He was a Special Professor of Legal Ethics at Hofstra Law School. He spent over ten years as an Adjunct Professor at Touro Law School, where he oversaw the Judicial Externship program, and taught a seminar for judicial externs examining the judge's role, in theory and practice. He is currently the Chair of the Nassau County Board of Ethics, having been appointed by the County Executive and confirmed by the Nassau County Legislature.He is a member of the New York State Bar Association (NYSBA), and Federal Bar Association Committees on Professional Ethics. He is a past Chair and continuing member of the NYSBA Committee on Standards of Attorney Conduct (COSAC). He was a member of the NYSBA Statewide Task Force on Non-Lawyer Ownership of Law Firms. He has served multiple terms as Chair of the Nassau County Bar Association Professional Ethics Committee. He has for over a decade been the Chair of a national committee of judges, law professors, and practicing attorneys which annually chooses a law school Moot Court brief for recognition by Scribes - the American Association of Legal Writers. In 2017, he received Scribes' Distinguished Service Award, at the annual meeting in Oklahoma City.He received both his B.A., and his J.D., cum laude, from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Buffalo, where he was Managing Editor of the Law Review. He was an associate of the Manhattan law firm of Breed, Abbott & Morgan, and, subsequently, was a partner in the law firm of Meyer, Suozzi, English & Klein, P.C. He previously attended SUNY Stony Brook, where, as was subsequently the case at Buffalo, he was a member of the school’s NCAA varsity soccer team.
