My subject matter expertise in bioaerosols and emergency management/response has resulted in numerous leadership roles both within and outside the government sector, nationally and internationally. Between 2003 and 2007, I served as the CDC lead on environmental issues for the federal BioWatch Program, ultimately serving as the Chair for the Environmental Sampling Work Group from 2005-2007. As a CDC expert, I provided testimony before a congressional sub-committee on Capitol Hill. I also worked with international partners as a member of the Global Health Security Advisory Group, an international collaboration of the ministries of health of the U.S., Canada, Mexico, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy and Japan. Since 2001, I served in numerous field leadership roles, including: the WTC collapse, anthrax, SARS, multi-drug resistant TB, Gulf Coast hurricane emergency responses, the H1N1 pandemic, and the Gulf oil spill. These activities led, in 2004, to a move to the NIOSH Emergency Preparedness and Response Office where I served as the acting Associate Director during 2006. My duties included preparing for, coordinating NIOSH involvement, and participating in CDC emergency responses. From 2007-2010, I was the Deputy Director for the NIOSH Division of Surveillance, Hazard Evaluations, and Field Studies (DSHEFS), a major division of 160 research and support staff with an annual budget ranging in recent fiscal years from $23 M – $47 M.Currently serve as a Senior Critical Infrastructure Analyst with Idaho National Laboratory.Lastly, I also serve as the Chief Executive Officer for a non-profit organization, the International Association for Bioscience and Environmental Criteria (IBEC), designed to bridge the gap between proven scientific process & real-world application for healthy congregation. Our successes include the delivery of several stages of the CLEAN 2020 Summit (www.clean2020summit.org).Specialties: microbiological aerosols, exposure characterization, nanotechnology
