The British Empire

Initially enlisting in the Royal Air Force as an Aircraft mechanic, then selected to attend aircraft technician training at No 1 School of Technical Training RAF Halton. Applied for Non Commissioned Aircrew to the Officer and Aircrew Selection Centre selection. Passed and sent to attend Air Loadmaster training, fixed wing, Parachute, and aircraft loading, trim sheets all movement details. At the end of training at Brize Norton selected and streamed Helicopter Crewman duties. Two full tours on Puma HC Mk1, including Search and Rescue training at RAF Valley. Subsequent postings in Germany , Hong Kong with complicated SAR rescues in Typhoon conditions including picking up a fellow crew ditched in the South China Seas also several in Northern Ireland once again with SAR commitments . Attended and passed Qualified Helicopter Crewman Instructor course at Central Flying School with subsequent tours on 28 Sqn, 72 Sqn, 230 Sqn as a QHCI. Eventually Finishing as a Commissioned Helicopter Crewman Weapons System Officer on Puma HC Mk1 in the Royal Auxiliary Air Force.
