Since my childhood, after witnessing the human-like robot Taekwon V of Korea, my heart has been enthralled by the dreams of engineering. My passion only deepened during my time in Professor Oh Jun-Ho's MCLAB, the founder of Rainbow Robotics, where I specialized in vision recognition, pondering the possibility of the eyes being integral to robotics.At Hyundai Motor Company, I sought to control automatic transmissions, pondering whether these control mechanisms could be potentially applied to robotic arms. Recognizing that fully-fledged robotics was still distant, my colleagues and I founded a start-up named PLK, setting our sights on manufacturing autonomous vehicles.At PLK, we developed a Lane Departure Warning System for Hyundai, a vision recognition device purely based on our technology. To date, our innovation has been applied to over half a million vehicles, making a significant contribution to safer driving experiences.When video recording devices for accident detection originated from Japan, we promptly manufactured a drive recorder for export. We were also pioneers in cultivating the burgeoning market for black boxes in Korea.Observing AlphaGo, it dawned on me the necessity of incorporating AI into vision recognition. Believing cloud technology to be an indispensable tool for machine learning, we pushed forward in securing cloud technology expertise. Witnessing chatGPT, it seems like we are finally getting closer to the dreams of fully functional robotics. As an engineer, I am excited to continue pushing the boundaries of AI, cloud computing, and advanced visual recognition to shape a future where robots are an integral part of our lives.
