I was in the Equities Research team, where my main responsibilities involved development and automation of data collection, client-facing reports, and pricing / forecasting models.I completed several short projects that involved writing scripts and designing spreadsheets that would gather data from external websites or internal databases; perform necessary calculations on the input data; and output in a user-friendly spreadsheet format. This development work was done in Python and Excel VBA.As the only developer on these projects I was responsible for the entire project lifecycle, including gathering requirements, implementation, and maintenance of completed scripts.

I was in the Fixed Income Technology team. My team supported the pricing and risk system for Fixed Income derivative products.My primary responsibilities involved development for the derivative risk calculation engine. I was tasked to find an interim risk calculation solution that would overcome limitations in the main system in use at the time, until a new globally supported system could come into production use.This involved taking the exiting risk calculation code, written in C++, and updating it so that it could be called using an in-house distribution framework; porting the code to the Windows platform so that we could leverage spare CPU cycles from user desktops; and integrating the new system with a risk scenario management tool so that users could design their own risk scenarios that would take advantage of improved performance.

I worked in the Fixed Income, Currencies, and Commodities data group, which was integrated with the Equities data team. We were responsible for maintenance and development of a time series database system, which presented a single API to access time series data stored in various backend systems (including flat files, Sybase, Microsoft SQL, and an in-house object database).My responsibilities were to make improvements and fix bugs for the database API; work with other teams to integrate their data into our system; gather user requirements for new data; write scripts and software (in Perl, an in-house scripting language, and C++) to gather and store that data; maintain the systems that gathered the data; and mentor members of other teams in matters related to time series data collection.In December 2005 I transferred from New York to Tokyo. In Tokyo I worked in the Equity Derivatives Strategies group in Tokyo, which was responsible for risk and pricing calculations. I maintained and developed the platform for trading of listed Equity Derivative products (primary TOPIX and Nikkei futures and options), which also managed positions and performed risk calculations.The system was designed in C++ and Perl and I used both in development of the system. I was also responsible for gathering user requirements for updates and improvements to the system and new exchange connectivity requirements.I was also responsible for the daily valuation and risk reports sent to customers that would show the price and risk of their positions. This was a system built in an in-house scripting language and used Quant pricing and risk libraries and output the results in Excel.

I was an intern in engineering for Medal of Honor: Frontline on the PlayStation2 platform. My tasks included creating tools for artists to explore levels they had designed and some in-game features.
