I am fully accountable for driving performance, availability, and reliability of Houston Metro’s IT infrastructure, which includes overseeing a 29-member team, a $5.9M capital budget, and a $7.5M operating budget. I direct support for network, data center, desktop, fiber optics, and video surveillance for 11 major locations, 28 park & ride sites, 1200 buses, and railroad signal house facilities. Our environment includes 2K workstations, 700 mobile devices, 240 miles of fiber cabling, 700+ Cisco devices, 80+ Cisco UCS and Dell PowerEdge servers hosting 800 virtual servers, 2PB+ of EMC storage, and two Cisco voice and call center systems for wired and wireless communications.My key achievements include:♦ Developed vision and led a transition to modern endpoint management using Microsoft Intune and M365. A major focus of this effort was to provide a zero-touch provisioning experience for new smartphones, tablets, and computers.♦ Implemented ZScaler for remote workers during the pandemic to allow employees to work from home with minimal changes to their experience in the office. ♦ Reconfigured VDI environment to utilize floating pools and published applications to improve performance and user experience.♦ Changed from a DR-centric paradigm to a business continuity model to provide better resiliency in case of an emergency or large-scale disaster.♦ Championed early adoption of Cisco’s Software Defined Networking (SDN) with Cisco DNA/ISE installation at the access layer and ACI in the data center.♦ Specified and led the implementation of an ITIL-compliant IT Service Management (ITSM) system.♦ Delivered significant bottom-line savings, including resolving $1M billing dispute with telecom provider in MTA’s favor and eliminating $800K in expenses by disconnecting unused circuits.

I led an 8-member team and managed IT operations, configuration, performance, and projects for citywide network and physical security spanning 15 sites. In addition, I administered a $1.4M annual budget, specified technology/equipment requirements, and managed procurement. The environment included VMware virtual infrastructure, VMware Horizon virtual desktop, Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, VoIP, Unity Unified Messaging, workstations, peripherals, mobile devices, A/V equipment, access control system, CCTV, and building fire and security systems.My key achievements include:♦ Steered planning, implementation, and execution of data center move from off-site colocation center into newly constructed Public Safety Building, completed with fewer than three hours of downtime.♦ Leveraged economies of scale, improved redundancy, and decreased costs by collaborating with Galveston County to integrate separate stand-alone Cisco CallManager telephone systems into one shared system.♦ Hosted SaaS-based public safety dispatching, records management, and communication system for 14 agencies, managing network connectivity, domain relationships, security, and IP address allocation.♦ Led continuous improvement by installing metro-Ethernet for remote sites, deploying network monitoring solution, and implementing enterprise SAN and Hyperconverged Infrastructure.

I performed hands-on support, maintenance, configuration, and procurement of network, desktop, and building security hardware and equipment. My responsibilities also include supervising a team member supporting a five-site Windows network and preparing the $300K annual budget. This environment included Cisco Catalyst 4500, 4000, and 3500 series switches, PIX 515 firewall, 3000 series VPN concentrator, VoIP, Unity Unified Messaging, Windows Server 2000/3003, Exchange Server, IIS, Microsoft SQL Server, IBM AS/400, Checkpoint access control, CCTV, 800 MHz radios, A/V equipment, fire & security systems, document imaging, and the website.My key achievements include:♦ Improved security and access by developing and administering acceptable use policies and procedures.♦ Transitioned from a traditional PBX to a Cisco VoIP phone system.♦ Managed tracking and resolution of all IT-related issues during greenfield construction of $8M, 30K-square foot building.

I administered an 11 server / 700 node NetWare/WinNT/AIX Citywide network that encompassed 9 major sites and 15 other sites via ISDN and dialup access. I managed three technicians and provided technical leadership for four others in the Police Department. My a major accomplishment in this role was the installation of a core router that increased throughput and reliability of the network. I also led projects to clean up the main wiring closets in both City Hall and the Police Department.
