This included water sample collection; benthic macroinvertebrate collection and identification; fish collection and identification; benthic habitat assessment; riparian habitat assessment; sonde calibration and use; flow meter use; backpack shocking apparatus use; GIS skills; topographic map and GPS navigational skills; public outreach and general interaction; scientific report reading, processing, and proofing; and accessing remote sites in inclement weather. In addition to those responsibilities, I was in charge of my own Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) list. This includes the scouting and establishment of new monitoring sites, monthly water quality sampling, benthic macroinvertebrate sampling, assessment of surrounding habitat, and determination of upstream influences. I also was in charge of the greater part of the state's Ambient Water Quality Network (AWQN) sites. These sites were sampled every other month, and several required the use of a specialized bridge crane and sampling tube. Finally, I did a great deal of work analyzing, coding, and performing corrections on deployable sonde data using Aquarius software from Aquatic Informatics.
