    BuddyBid was a social auction app in Facebook, giving brand owners a new way of monetizing their social audiences. Think of ebay's functionality + your brand + Facebook's reach. Businesses with strong brand equity and well-established social communities found tremendous value in BuddyBid. They were able to turn “likes” into revenue while introducing their brand to friends of fans via social proof. Sadly, this did not stand on its own as a business and in 2016 the business pivoted into a Classified Listings service for real estate; subsequently rebranding to ListingLogic.While licking my wounds from a failed product, and trying my best to reflect on the positive aspects of the whole experience, I had an epiphany. Our social auctions were just another form of content - no biggie. The real discovery was how to use content in a way that turns fleeting social media traffic into recurring commercial relationships - at scale.
