As a young graduate in chemical engineering in this international company I went from being the new man on the team to be the cornerstone of R&D. This strong learning curve was a consequence of increased responsibility, which resulted in that I became the key driver in product and process development from laboratory --> pilot plant --> industrial plant implementation. Besides the various process optimizations, which improved product quality and plant capacity, I illustrated through trial and calculations the possibilities in the enrichment of by-products and made a mind-map of raw materials and product properties.Furthermore, I developed a SharePoint site for documentation and project management and designed a process that could potentially, on one of the plants, utilize the raw materials to produce higher valued products and at the same time double the plant capacity/efficiency.

Trainee program: In association with my Master’s Thesis I worked with optimization of the Carboxymethyl Cellulose process in pilot scale, with the aim of reducing the use of raw material while attempting to improve product quality.Responsibilities: Designing and planning of experiments, experiment execution, evaluation of results, followed by process improvement recommendations. Achievements: After convincing evidence in pilot scale, a reduction of the second most expensive feedstock were introduce at factory scale. Further optimization is expected implemented before completion of the trainee program.
