Ken has been in patent law for more than twenty years, serving as in-house patent counsel and working in private practice. Subsequently, he worked at Intel Corporation where he chaired the MEMS/Bio-MEMS/Optical-MEMS Intellectual Property Committee, working with engineers and technology leaders to identify strategic patenting opportunities and also chaired Intel’s Baseband and Broadcast Technologies Intellectual Property Committee, served on Intel’s Wireless Intellectual Property Committee, taught patent training classes to Intel engineering groups, and conducted patent harvesting sessions with various Intel business units in addition to managing other attorneys in Intel’s legal department. In addition, he has managed the legal work of various domestic and overseas law firms in their efforts to obtain valuable patent assets for his clients.As a partner at Spectrum IP Law Group LLC, Ken especially enjoys drafting patent applications and working with corporate clients and inventors to obtain patent assets on emerging technologies. Ken understands that the value of a patent lies not in just communicating the complexities of the underlying technology and applying the legal issues involved, but that a patent is an essential business tool. This results in a patenting process that is exciting and technically sound, and leverages the client’s financial investment in intellectual property. Ken believes that good patent strategy not only covers the here and now, but also prophetically captures what is yet to be.
