I am a litigator with over twenty years experience in complex litigation and appeals in Alabama and in locations throughout the United States as varied as California, Illinois, Texas, New York, and New England, and in courts ranging from state trial courts to the Supreme Court of the United States.* A typical case for me involves a large number of parties, complex or cutting edge legal issues, or high exposure, although I have worked on some less complex matters throughout my career. I have also counseled clients regarding process changes or improvements to stay ahead of the litigation environment or changes in the information technology, regulatory, or commercial environments closely related to litigation. Along the way, I have acquired experience addressing the issues facing a number of industries, and I have developed a particular body of knowledge involving the complex framework of federal and state law governing the transportation industry in the era since the substantial completion of deregulation in the 1990s.
