I'm proud to serve as the Director of Safety at Consor, helping to protect over 1,700 teammates as they bring innovative water and transportation infrastructure solutions to public agencies across North America.Early in my career, I served 4 years in the US Army Infantry, spent several years as a whitewater raft guide on the New and Gauley Rivers in southern West Virginia, worked as a radio DJ and talk show host, spent some time as an EMT, and got my first job in construction shoveling asphalt on a paving crew in 1994. After stints as a truck driver, equipment operator, and pipe foreman, I discovered a passion for safety when I taught my first CPR/First Aid class, and I've been doing it ever since.I'm the proud son of a long line of West Virginia coal miners. Many of my ancestors and relatives left for work in the mines one morning and just never made it home. Because of this, I grew up with a deep feeling of respect for hard work and the people who do it, and a deep belief that they should have the time, tools, knowledge, and support to do it safely. My 29-year career in construction safety has been devoted to their health and well-being, and I'd be hard-pressed to think of a better cause a person could work for.
