I was initially brought in by US Bank, the indenture trustee for the holding company Lanesborough. I dismissed entrenched management, promoted from within, orchestrated a debt-for-equity swap at the holding company, led and won an anti-dumping suit in Washington, conducted a successful search for an established chemical CEO, raised prices and volume levels, made agreements with the Steelworkers Union, and through all this led the company from a severe loss to better than breakeven. Unfortunately, after 9/11 the Chinese dumping that had caused most of Buffalo Color's problems resumed. Calling on New York's Senators for any help was futile. Forced into it, I then downsized the workforce from over 200 individuals to roughly 15, and did it peacefully.
