Block was originally set up to offer a quality design service on small to medium size projects. Some 20 years later Block Architects, Interiors, Planning and Studio offer all of our core services ensuring our Clients' benefit from collaborative thinking.As an architecture student, I worked in Fitzroy Square London for MWP (former business partner of world renowned Architect, Sir James Stirling). The London office at the time was busy and I enjoyed working on No1 Poultry, The Lowry Centre and Carlton House. The British Embassy, Berlin and various STO projects were being executed at the time. A great place to cut my teeth in Architecture.Prior to establishing Block Architects, I learned the ropes locally at GCA Architects Ltd, Coatbridge. From memory GCA employed nearly 20 people whilst in it's prime working on many varying types and sizes of projects including football stadia works, residential and public works. I tended to get involved in all of these sectors including multiple care homes for North Lanarkshire Council, works at Livingston FC and Dunfermline FC and residential layouts throughout Scotland for Bett Homes and other smaller development companies. Works including everything from preparing planning submissions to overseeing construction works on site.In 2024, Block Architects hits it's 20th year in business. It's the biggest the Practice has every been. I now tend to focus on strategic thinking and setting the path for the business. The next five years are going to be interesting. A management team now take care of the day to day running of projects and managing client expectations. All things considered, the management team do well to keep business flowing whilst adapting to a construction and design environment that is always changing. Change is inevitable.With over 25 years experience working in Architecture and Construction, including participating in my own development companies, serviced accommodation and development mentoring, I bring a well rounded mindset to any project. I take great pride in helping my clients reach new levels as their projects become bigger, better and more rewarding for all involved.Here's to your success!
