I work as a freelance editor and writer. I bring to any task a significant background in higher education, curriculum, journalism, event planning, management, and public relations. I retired from Missouri Western State University after teaching since 1979 as a professor of journalism. I served as chair of the department for six years and was adviser to the student newspaper and the yearbook. I have completed two university-level editing textbooks. The first, co-authored with Vince Filak at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and published by Pearson in fall 2012, is "The Journalist's Handbook for Online Editing." The second, to be published in summer 2013 by Oxford University Press, is "Copycrafting: Editing for Journalism Today," an introductory-level text.
