As a Senior Attorney at Simon PLC, I leverage the knowledge and experience I gained during my over 26 year career at Citizens Financial Group, Inc. (CFG), to provide financial institution and corporate clients with straight forward practical advice put in plain English with a focus on cost-effective representation that produces results consistent with company business goals. This type of advice represents Simon PLC’s firm mission and commitment to its clients. My experience brings a comprehensive financial institution knowledge base to my clients, having performed a myriad of duties and responsibilities for the bank as it grew from a local federal savings and loan, First Federal of Michigan, to an international bank, The Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS). My CFG career included being a Senior Vice President, Head of Litigation and a member of the company’s executive leadership group (ELG). My areas of expertise include, but are not limited to: general litigation valuation, cost-effective strategies and resolutions; retail financial institution issues; and, general business legal risk evaluation and reduction.CFG was a subsidiary of RBS and today is one of the largest banks in the U.S. My journey to Head of Litigation parallels CFG’s journey from a local retail bank to a commercial bank. I began with First Federal of Michigan in 1988. When it merged with Charter One Bank, the bank grew exponentially—as did my role. I was a due diligence and integration team member for mergers and acquisitions. When Charter One was acquired by RBS, my role again expanded to Head of Litigation. I survived repeated reorganizations while gaining a wide issue and challenge perspective of the financial industry - from local to international, from micro to macro perspectives, and from different corporate visions and leadership philosophies. As a member of the ELG, I helped the bank thrive through technological, economic, and regulatory changes that fundamentally transformed the industry.
