After being an endurance athlete of questionable ability for 20+ years, I was diagnosed with a blood cancer. Now, I want to give back.I went through a lot of chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant in 2015, I started running again in 2016, and I'm going to spend 2017 training to run 940 miles on the Mountains to Sea Trail from the Outer Banks to Clingman's Dome. I hope to raise over $150,000 during this odyssey starting today and every day.Throwing Bones is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization with the mission to help cancer patients to stay healthy and active through treatment, and to help healthcare providers with the resources they need to encourage healthy activity in their patients.My job every day is to guide Throwing Bones to implementing our programs – Cancer-Active Self-Assessment Video Series, Cancer-Active Coaching Network, Cancer-Active Education, advocacy programs, events, and general patient support.
