Athletic Tutor And Success Coach
Part-time position that reports directly to the Academic Success Coordinator for Athletics. This position will the promote academic success of the student-athlete population by working as a tutor and/or study hall monitor and promoting the enhancement initiatives of both the Athletic Department and the Academic Success Center. This position requires that a student is eligible for student employment (either Federal Work Study or University Employment) and is a current Stetson undergraduate or graduate student. Must demonstrate proficiency in a specific subject matter. Must have strong interpersonal, organizational and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to effectively communicate study strategies to promote academic success. Must be able to establish and maintain an encouraging learning environment and exhibit an excellent level of responsibility, reliability, and punctuality.This position requires that a student has the ability to provide individual or group tutoring to Stetson student athletes and offer assistance in developing positive note-taking, study, and overall academic strategies. Prepare materials for tutoring sessions and develop a tutoring plan that fits the studentβs individual needs. Work independently and coordinate tutoring sessions with little to no supervision. Will facilitate a student environment that is conducive to optimal learning, maintain the appropriate study hall environment by enforcing study hall rules and regulations, take the necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities, and inform supervisor of the atmosphere of study hall and any potential problems. Will have an understanding of the general NCAA academic eligibility guidelines and the student-athlete requirements as they relate to the NCAA, Atlantic Sun, Pioneer Football League and Stetson University. Attend mandatory, ongoing training provided in success coaching, data analysis, and special projects. Other duties as assigned.
