Ken’s father the late Mr. Spaulding B. Settle, Sr. was a master salesman, facilities engineer, product formulator, licensed cosmetologist, educator, presenter, platform artist and business owner. Ken was taught hands on under the direction and supervision of his father. His father taught him every aspect of the professional cosmetology industry including the formulating and manufacturing of cosmetics starting as early as six years of age. He would travel the country to exhibit at various cosmetology events nationwide. He learned the art of salon, barber shop and distributor sales through seminars and product presentations. Ken also worked side by side with his father to help other potential ethnic hair manufacturers get started by helping design and assemble small manufacturing facilities. With the facility engineering training from his Dad, they would design and set up manufacturing operations. After the pasting of his Dad, he decided venture off to design Audiovisual, Broadcast Systems. He remained in the AV Technology Industry for many years and used all the skills taught to him by his father. He won various sales awards and achievements in his new area of expertise. He worked for various National High-End AV/Broadcast Technology firms like Audio Visual Systems out of Tampa, FL, the Whitlock Group out of Richmond Virginia as an Account Manager and later AV Consultant. In 2005 he experienced the loss of his mom, Gertrude Settle. His mom made a decision that would give him the opportunity to return to his true love in the cosmetology industry to continue the “Kay Vel Product Line” & his father’s legacy and vision. Ken continued his Dad’s vision also to help the Beauty Industry rebirth itself by assisting Salon owners to increase their return on investment “ROI” as business owners. Ken now educates salon owner’s extend their client reach by the use of technology, social & digital media. Salon client target promotions and through hair events.
