Utilized both my product design and manufacturing experience to quickly and effectively perform root cause analysis then implement solutions. The relationships built with experts in each area aided in these processes and gave the production associates personal investment in the quality improvements.As QE for both low voltage switchboard and switchgear product lines my responsibilities also included supervising the production inspectors for both product lines. This allowed me to have a direct connection to the early stages of defect detection and quickly address issues as they arose. Maintained regular contact with customers to drive continuous improvement, always striving to exceed their expectations and improve the customer’s experience. Direct contact with high volume customers also provided product feedback that the average customer may not give, helping to identify improvements that can be made to benefit all customers. Worked closely with our Manufacturing Engineering team as we improved the production processes. In the absence of an ME for one line I had the opportunity to lead a project to improve the line’s layout and tooling to increase productivity as well as production quality.5 why, 8D, who/what/when/where/why/how. I have always loved figuring out how things work and then making them work better, this role was just another way I can do just that while helping to make a better product for a satisfactory customer experience.

Square D low-voltage power distribution products (switchboards and switchgear).My areas of responsibility included production quality inspectors, equipment testers, final prep/packout, and shipping. I managed the day to day activities of approximately 35 individuals. During my time as test supervisor I had the opportunity to work all 3 shifts and be closely involved with many stages of the order process, from engineering and order services through production and then delivery of the final product from the shipping department.Working closely with the production managers I developed familiarity with all production areas to better facilitate a smooth product flow in the test department and to accurately forecast the product’s readiness for customer delivery.

I work in an Engineer To Order (ETO) plant to make custom switchboards and breaker panels for data centers and other industrial applications. I create specialized components to enable unique customer-requested layouts and accessibility, complying with internal safety standards and surpassing national regulations. I work with puzzles every day. How much hardware can I safely fit in a specific size frame with a certain layout, while complying with applicable safety standards and meeting short deadlines?I work closely with electrical engineers to create products that meet the customer's desires and also work with manufacturing to ensure that the units are built correctly and timely.My responsibilities also include Engineering Scheduler. I meet daily with the mechanical engineering supervisor and the electrical engineers to assess work load and distribution within the mechanical design team. I spread the incoming jobs out among the 22 mechanical engineers on our team to achieve the maximum productivity and efficiency while delivering completed jobs to manufacturing on time.

I interned with the Data Center Solutions department working on custom designed electrical switchboards, learning the business in preparation for coming on full time. I performed the same engineering functions as I would in a full time role. This allowed me to complete school and get ahead of the curve with my new job at the same time.

I worked with management in all divisions in the warehouse as well as yard control on continual improvement and lean processes to improve efficiency and reduce non-value added tasks. Part of this was researching product allocation in the warehouse and ensuring that items are placed correctly for the most efficient moves. I also worked with management to gain a better understanding of what is required daily to maintain warehouse operations. I worked alongside the warehouse teams to better understand their tasks and how I could assist in improving them.

I worked closely with warehouse management and the retail shipping team to maximize the volume of product shipped as well as increase shipment accuracy. My tasks included daily reviews to reconcile warehouse, delivery and sales records to determine delivery accuracy; I also researched any inaccuracies to determine root cause. I analyzed loading procedures to find more efficient methods, looked for products damaged in the loading process and determined procedures required to prevent similar future damages.I also managed a team of maintenance personnel, outside contractors, bulk and retail shipping operators on a lean project to renovate the retail shipping area. This project increased efficiency and product volume shipped, as well as decreasing labor costs and physical strain. The outcome was a 80% reduction of trips up stairs made by team members, as well as a $9,000 reduction in overtime costs for the company.
