I undertake research in the development and validation of earthquake forecasting models, including short-term, medium-term, long-term, and hybrid models that are part of GNS’ earthquake responses. I also advise on statistical matters and contribute statistical expertise to scientific studies across GNS Science, as required.

I was involved in building a predictive modelling tool to better support Fineos-NYL to assess:1. How long should they expect a claim to be managed.2. Which type of case owner should assist the client and other business rules.

Developed and solved an existing optimization model using Julia programming language, incorporating the JuMP (mathematical programming for Julia) package. The existing model developed by the Electricity Authority (Generation Expansion Model, GEM) was formulated and solved using the GAMS modelling software. The GEM is long-term planning model used to study generation and transmission capacity expansion in the New Zealand electricity sector.

Developed an automated report (using R Markdown and Flexdashboard) for Te Puni Kōkiri. The report tracks the performance of five sectors in enabling equitable Māori wellbeing – health, education, employment, housing, and justice.

Developed three interactive data visualization App (using R-Shiny) for EECA. 1. Data visualization App for the TIMES-NZ model The TIMES-NZ model is based on an international IEA ETSAP Times model which is Adapted to NZ conditions. Data visualization App for the Regional Heat Demand Database. Data visualization App for the Energy End-Use user database (EEUD). The EEUD estimates national energy consumption is broken down by fuel type, sector, end-use, and technology. The developed App will allow researchers, policymakers, the business sector, and the general public to explore how energy is used and will be used. In this project, coding, documentation & version control practice was demonstrated.

The project seeks to automate the monitoring and reporting documents at the Biodiversity Monitoring and Reporting team at the Department of Conservation (DOC). R scripting and LaTeX is used to automate the processing and reporting of documents. DoC supplies pre-printed plot sheets to field staff annually for data collection. DOC plans on moving to electronic data and as such requires an automated data processing, validations, and reporting. The automation process targets the datasets and applies various checks and validations within the scope of the datasets to ensure that checks and validations are carried out.

I assisted students in learning various mathematical and statistical concepts. Aside from demonstrating tutorial exercises, I marked student course work and examinations to the university standards.

I used empirical, numerical simulation, machine learning, and statistical approaches to understand the mechanisms that control seismic anisotropy.Supervisors: Professor Richard Arnold and Professor Martha Savage

I performed quality control of acquired seismic data to ensure they were within required acquisition specifications in the Barrent Sea for Statoil, Offshore-Norway using WesternGeco Q-marine technology and Obliq broadband technique. Was an integral member in-field processing team who processed the acquired seismic data from raw SEG-D to Field 3D cube (basically merging navigation and seismic data, Noise Attenuation, De-ghosting, Deconvolution) using Omega2 seismic processing software. Picking velocity, building velocity model and QC'ing using INVA and Petrel visualization software and regular assisting seismic crew with work-boat missions and back deck activities (streamer deploying and retrieval) was part my activities offshore. As part of adhering to the QHSE policies offshore we performed periodic safety audits, field inspections, and assist safety and efficiency focus groups. I also assisted the Chief Field Geophysicist in most of the administrative duties such as liaising with onboard and onshore clients as part of QC and data delivery.

I participate in the fixed-step training program for Schlumberger field engineers and passed in each module (Exceeded Expectation). I attended several technical training in France, Abu Dhabi, and Houston. Whiles offshore, I assisted in the implementation of data processing sequences and seismic data processing as outlined by Chief and Senior Field Geophysicist for 3D seismic data acquisition in the Barrent Sea for TGS-NOPEC, Norway using WesternGeco Q-marine technology and Obliq broadband technique. I also assist in the Quality Control of the acquired seismic data to ensure they are within required acquisition specifications. I also complied with all company HSE & Quality and IT standards and policies and also participate in the location HSE & Quality initiatives and programs (e.g. Risk Assessment, Emergency Response Plan, and Loss Prevention Team).

I conducted the following research:1. Interpretation of Airborne Magnetic, Radiometric and Electromagnetic Dataset within the Buem formation (MSc Thesis). 2. Using Ground Penetrating Radar for estimation of Volumetric Water Content in soil and for mapping out the water table. 3. 2D and 3D Resistivity land imaging at the proposed KNUST Teaching Hospital using ABEM tarameter SAS 4000

I was a key member of the geophysical team for conducting geophysical exploration and siting borehole within Ghana. I performed data processing, analysis and interpretation of acquired data using advance processing software. As a data analyst for Ghana's 2010 Census, I was a member of the data cleaning, analyses, and visualization team. Prior to that, I assisted with the analysis of data and writing regional statistical reports. I also assisted with the data collection and analyses for the calculation of economic indicators.
