The Creating Innovative Engineers/ Professionals course brings together industry professionals and Masters students from across engineering, biomedicine and commerce to deliver industry innovation projects. Each semester, over 40 organisations from commercial, government, entrepreneurial and non-profit spheres work alongside learners on an innovation challenge that the sponsor organisation values. This allows the University's students to learn about:- the importance of innovative conceptual design in professional practice and their likely work lives, - the role of value-creation in engineering, - the professional skills to work in teams, - the empathic tools to work in cross-cultural teams, and - specific skills for innovation practice. At the same time, the sponsors learn about innovation practice, have an opportunity to work closely with a group of students, engage with other local companies on innovation problems and have an opportunity to engage with the University more broadly.
